Can you believe Kylie will be three next month? She keeps telling everyone that her Birthday is coming soon. She asked me the other day if Daddy could go and get her birthday today. (Time is still a concept she doesn't grasp.) She suprises us everyday with her ability to learn. She remembers everything. And she is saying the funniest things. The other day we were at Chili's and the tortilla chips we had looked a little overcooked (they were black and splotchy - if that makes any sense) anyway - she picked one up and said "Daddy, this looks like your neck." Because Gary had not shaven that day - his neck had five-o-clock shadow. We laughed for the longest time - even Mollie belly laughed - just so she could be part of the fun. During that same meal Kylie wanted some ketchup for her french fries but the bottle was almost empty. As Gary was trying to shake the ketchup out she said "Shake-it." So he started shaking the bottle harder and she said, "That's it, you got it, you got it!" I looked at Gary and said, "Where did that come from?" And she said without hesitation, "From my mouth."
Mollie just turned 14-months-old and of course, she is doing new things every week. She had the flu a few weeks ago and it was during that time that she fully grasped the drama of "milking it for all it's worth." So, whenever something doesn't go quite how she was expecting it to, she throws her hands over her mouth and breaks into a fully involved sobb fest. (Gary and I find it pretty entertaining.)Mollie is still not saying a whole lot but we are teaching her sign-language and she is doing well communicating that way. (So, there have not been nearly as many ear-piercing squeals.) She is able to follow directions, small ones, of course, like, "go put this in the garbage" and "let's go upstairs and get ready for bed." She has recently learned to take off her clothes and her diaper. So, I have found her several times this week totally naked. She loves to sing and she has even learned some of the hand-motions for the songs we do everyweek in Kidz Life. She is so much fun. I love this age.
I wish my babies could stay babies forever.
